Others have suggested that D5 have an unbalanced sectional, moving Scottsdale Christian to the Western Sky because their travel times to the remainder of their sectional is too great. To that I say, it's possible, but what do you do about teams like Yuma Catholic and Antelope who have travel times similar to Scottsdale Christian? What's fair for one is fair for the others.

The AIA will have a handful of these types of schools to deal with anyway. I said it before - I think there's going to be about 8 schools that will change places before it's all said and done.

Just looking at the D3 Sectional, why would the AIA put Maricopa and Sierra Linda in the same section and Flagstaff and Coconino? Should look more like this:

I came across your article “Banner Ironwood, Queen Creek, and Pinal County, oh my!” and wanted to thank you for trying to dispel some of the misinformation that is being conveyed about the Town of Queen Creek’s annexation of Banner Ironwood Hospital.

This issue has been one of great discussion, and any opportunities to provide accurate information is very much appreciated.

Knowing that you are working hard to educate the public, I wanted to let you know about two points in the article that are factually incorrect.

1.) When the issue of the incorporation of the San Tan Valley area was brought to the Queen Creek Town Council several years ago, it gave permission for the incorporation. The Town Council has never “gone on record saying they will not give” permission to incorporate.

2.) In order to annex an area, the boundaries of the area must be contiguous. That means that it is not possible for the Town of Queen Creek to incorporate the Banner Ironwood Hospital without first annexing the Fry’s shopping plaza.

Thank you again for your work in trying to convey accurate information to the public. If I can be of any assistance in the future, please contact me or the Town’s Communications Marketing Division Manager, Marnie Schubert.

Regards,
Jeff Brown
Council Member, Town of Queen Creek

I've been following this story and there's more to it than what's being reported. The kids were suspended and some deserved harsher punishments more than others. The punishment was exessive for some, but for others it was much deserved. One of the players involved was also suspended from sports last year for "violation of rules". This his second offense in two years for the same reason!

What's also disturbing is that the head coach gave a speech to the remaining players on how life throws challenges towards us and we must over come lifes obsticals. A real team building, let's overcome this speech. Then he pulls a fast one on his players who have bought into his wisdom...hook, line, and sinker. What kind of coach would quit on his team? I'll tell you what kind. The kind that's in it just to win! He has shown not only the kids of Kearny, but the entire community how to be a quitter when things get tough! What was also not mentioned is that one of the Assitant Coaches son also played on the team and when that coach seen that his son didn't have the supporting talent, he transfered him to a New Mexico school. Great message guys!!! So what if your son was about to be suspended for rule violations....The team and the town would have stood by a man of integrity. He (head coach) just showed his son how when things get rough you need to walk away!

I'm really rooting for the Bearcats! I'm so proud of the kids and the coaches that are sticking with it! You have the entire support of your community! Try your best and have fun.
